Julia Ewers and Reed Stark AC'17 :: Best Friend Letters

We remember meeting like it was yesterday, sitting at mellow mushroom in Nashville, thinking to ourselves, “did we just become best friends? I think so”. From then on, we became inseparable. Whenever we go out separately, at least one person asks “where’s your other half/twin/doppelganger?” and we have to explain why the other isn’t with us (literally it happens almost every time). We haven’t just become best friends that will last in college, we have become second daughters to our families, a sister to our siblings, and a great friend to everyone from our hometowns.

Reed,

You have shown me a genuine friendship built on so many incredible memories. You have lifted me up in times when I feel down, you push me to be the best that I can be, and you support me in any decision I make regardless of how crazy it may seem. I can’t imagine anyone else to help me intentionally flip our white water raft in North Carolina to spontaneously buying Hozier tickets on the day of the concert. As we continue to grow, our friendship does too. You continuously surprise me in the best ways possible I am beyond grateful that our paths aligned when they did. I can promise you that I will never let you down, never say no to a crazy adventure, and I can promise you I will support you as the most amazing human being I know you are. From a stranger to my best friend, to my future bridesmaid, and then to us being old ladies still quoting New Girl, love you beyond words Lady Stark!

Love,

Julia

Julia,

I don’t think I could ever fully put into words how thankful I am to have met Julia and to have a friendship that I know will last a lifetime. It’s rare to find someone who matches with you on so many levels. I will forever be grateful for all of the memories we have made and am even more excited for the ones that we are going to create. Throughout college, she has always been there to support and uplift me in anything and everything that I do. Julia has a heart like no other as she constantly puts others before herself; no matter what the situation is. To know her is to know joy. A joy that has come from getting lost in the Georgia mountains together, lake days throughout the summer, spring breaks in the Bahamas, morning coffee runs that turn into lunch dates and then into movie nights, and a joy that comes from living life to its fullest. No matter what life throws our way, I’m so thankful to have the most amazing best friend to make the most of it with.

Love,

Reed
