Shout out to my fellow Gamma Iota ADPi’s! My name is Karli Kimbrough, and I am a freshman here at UF in the college of Liberal Arts and Sciences exploring social and behavioral science. With the help of the constant support from my sisters, I am honored to be a part of the Student Government Class Council and serve as the Vice President of our freshman class. Additionally, I am also a part of the Dance Marathon Emerging Leaders Program. I plan to pursue a minor in non-profit organization work, but I truly do not know where life’s journey will take me. I try to live by the famous quote of our Tim Tebow, “ I don’t know what my future holds, but I do know who holds my future.”
In my short time here, I could never have imagined how much I would fall in love with the University of Florida. Alpha Delta Pi has only enhanced my love for UF and has been such an incredible blessing. I have enjoyed every moment of socials, intramurals, dinners, and even late night Study Edge sessions with my sisters. I am so blessed to be in AC ’18 and to be a part of such an amazing ADPi family. Everyone around me has truly challenged and inspired me in so many different areas of my life. To be around such incredible women who represent the ideals and excellence ADPi stand for encourages me to be my best self.
This past Friday, our sorority hosted its annual formal and one of its most anticipated events of the year. I really do not think we could ever top this year’s Black Diamond (props to Izzy Romero). The venue at TIAA Bank Field aka the Jaguars Stadium was UNREAL! I legitimately felt like I was in an episode of Gossip Girl. The casino theme, the decorations, the ADPi signs on the walls, the delicious appetizers, the DJ killing it all night, and, of course, the ability to walk outside and see the football field. It was all unbelievable. In contrast to our usual leggings and sorority t-shirts, I loved being able to see everyone look stunning in their red or black dresses. Formal, or basically college prom, was by far our best event all year, and one I will never forget.
Furthermore, I am so excited to see what is in store with all of the many new changes within our chapter. The biggest of all being our future new home. This for sure will impact every member of Gamma Iota, but I believe this transformation will bring us all without a doubt closer. As a chapter, we will have the unforgettable memories from the old house and from the new house, which is an opportunity not everyone gets the chance to experience.
Overall, being at UF and being a part of Alpha Delta Pi has made my freshman year the best days of my life thus far. Thank you to my beloved sorority for being such a light in my life, and I hope we continue to make every new member feel as loved and supported as you all have made me feel. I am eternally grateful for the forever friendships I have made in and out of ADPi, and I am so excited to see what the rest of my four years will bring. Go Gators!!! #FirstFinestForever
